On September 7th 2016, we were fortunate enough to meet Kazuhiro Arai San, representative director of the Daisetsuzan Nature School located in the small town of Higashikawa (Hokkaido, Japan).
He is a dedicated activist for community-based environmental conservation and education, mainly focusing his work on Daisetsuzan National Park management (the biggest national park in Japan!), Kitoushi Forest Park management, environmental conservation educational activities and local sustainable development management (AINU indigenous community, farmwork, etc.).
The interview below will allow you to learn more about his goals and achievements. We hope that this conservation model will serve as inspiration for others!
